Established in 2015, the programme and its format has evolved to provide greater competition and further development for players looking to go forward for County selection trials, challenging players against the best from other Areas of the county.
Area Squads run a series of open training sessions, usually during the autumn, that are available to any cricketers who would like to progress to the next level.
Your Club or School Coaches may recommend that you seek to progress your cricket further, or if you believe you/your son/daughter have the potential to train and compete at the next level you can sign them up for the open sessions in your Area.
Please scroll down for the contact details of your local area.
Players do not have to be put forward or ‘nominated’ by schools or clubs. From these sessions Areas will pick their squads for the following summer who will then train further during the spring and summer and take part in festivals, playing against the other Areas.
We meet regularly with all of the area managers, all of which have stated that they would welcome new contact from clubs and in particular, from local school teachers. Whether you have noticed a 9 year old with a ‘natural eye’ for the ball in a PE lesson or have an accomplished year 9 player then please get in touch with your area manager.
