Academy ‘keeper Billings hoping for England U19 tour spot

Academy wicketkeeper Sam Billings (pictured) will hope that his performances for Nottinghamshire will earn him selection for the England U19“s tour of Bangladesh.

The emerging Kent gloveman – who is part of the ECB squad for the competition – helped Nottinghamshire seconds to a two wicket win in their first game against an ECB Elite Player Development X1 at Loughborough.

The wicketkeeper scored 14 with the bat and took two catches behind the stumps in the first match.

Billings then scored ten and took fivecatches in the second match but couldn’t stop Nottinghamshire losing by a wicket.

Notts were captained in both games by Kevin O“Brien; brother of the former Kent wicketkeeper, Niall.
