Kent Cricket Academy scholars, Ben Dawkins, and Oliver Curtiss, top scored for the Second XI, in their 27 run defeat, away to Sussex Seconds, in a T20 match, at Horsham.

Set 172 to win, after the home side had scored 171, from their 20 overs, Kent Seconds, were all out for 144, in 18 overs.

Dawkins made 31, and Curtiss 22, after experienced batters, Harry Finch, and Ben Compton, had been dismissed cheaply, at the top of the batting. Aristides Karvelas 4 for 18.

In the Sussex innings, Harrison Ward scored a half-century 50, from 38 deliveries, with seven fours and two sixes, and Tom Haines 68, with a six and seven boundaries, in an opening partnership of 82 runs in 8.3 overs. Arafat Bhuiyan 3 for 22, Jaydn Denly 2 for 11.

Kent Second XI’s next match, is a prestige three-day fixture, against the South Asian Cricket Academy, starting at The County Ground, Beckenham, on Monday, 17 June. Entry is free for Members and supporters.
