Adam Riley pleased with England Lions debut

Kent spinnerAdam Riley was thrilled to get a late cameo for England Lions in Soweto, alongside teammateSam Billings.

The Sidcup-born bowler took a wicket with his first ball of a two-over spell in the final session and took the wicket of Gauteng top-scorer Bradley Dial.

Reflecting on the dismissal, the 22-year-old said: "It's not every day you get a wicket with the first ball you bowl although I was pretty fortunate as the batter swept it pretty firmly to mid wicket and Alex Lees took a smart diving catch.

"It was good to just get a bowl in the second innings having sat out of the first half of the match, it was just a shame that the rain came and ended the match prematurely as it would have been good to get a few overs under my belt."

Yorkshire all-rounder Adil Rashid was the sole spinner in the attack for the first innings and the Kent man thinks conditions could favour an all-seam attack.

The Kent Cricket Academy graduatesaid:"The pitches out here provide a different challenge for spinners and we expect the wickets to be hard and fast so they'll suit our fast bowlers and maybe offer a little bit of spin at the very back end of the matches.

"Either way it's a great experience to bowl on surfaces that are vastly different to English conditions."
