ADR: Playing in Canterbury ODI would be special

Kent vice-captain Alice Davidson-Richards is hoping her early-season form can attract the eyes of the England selectors.

She scored 40 and 61 not out against Yorkshire and Lancashire in back-to-back wins at The County Ground, Beckenham last weekend after making her international debut in India earlier this year.

The 24-year-old from Tunbridge Wells earned a rookie contract this winter and is hoping to retain her place in the squad for next month’s Royal London One-Day International series against South Africa.

Davidson-Richards said: “I’ve got so much more time to train and prepare with the rookie contract now I’m not working in the week.

“I’d love to be involved in the England squad again and playing the ODI on my home ground at Canterbury would be quite special.”

The third and final match of the ODI series takes place at The Spitfire Ground on Friday 15 June with several Kent players in contention including captain Tammy Beaumont, spinner Laura Marsh and left-arm seamer Tash Farrant.
