Amjad returns home early

Amjad injury latest:

Kent County Cricket Club is able to report that Amjad Khan saw his specialist, Andy Williams, this morning. As a result of the consultation it has been concluded that there is no need for surgery on his knee and that a programme of rehabilitation will now take place. This could lead to a return to cricket for Amjad in 4-6 weeks time.

Everyone connected with Kent County Cricket Club will have been concerned to hear of Amjad Khan’s early return from the West Indies with a knee injury.

Amjad will visit a specialist in London today (Wednesday 1 April 2009) accompanied by the Club’s Physiotherapist, Nimmo Reid, in order to assess the extent of the injury.

Commenting, Chief Executive, Paul Millman said: "We are obviously most concerned for Amjad. We have been in regular contact with Dr Nick Peirce, the ECB’s Chief Medical Officer, with regard to the nature of the injury and in conjunction with the ECB we are ensuring that Amjad is receiving the best possible medical advice It is too early to comment on the extent of the injury and I know everyone at the Club wishes him well."
