Amjad waiting in the wings

ENGLAND now head into a must-win final Test at the Trinidad Queen’s Park Oval after the bore draw in Barbados earlier this week ended hopes of a series victory for the tourists. They now need to defeat the West Indies to retain the Wisden Trophy.

Recent history would suggest that this is not a Test likely to end in a draw – Ten matches have been played since that last happened.

Nor is the Oval a ground given to high scores since only once in the last decade has the side batting first exceeded 350 – and that was Australia.

With Steve Harmison seemingly out of favour, and Ryan Sidebottom struggling for form, the way could be clear for Kent“s Amjad Khan (pictured with James Anderson) to make his full England debut with England likely to field 5 bowlers as they go for the win.
