Arc Simulations x Kent Cricket: From data capture to match reality
Thursday 23rd April 2026

Kent Cricket, in partnership with Arc Simulations, has spent the past 18 months working on revolutionising what net training looks like, using cutting-edge ball tracking technology combined with real-time match simulation.
Arc’s system enables Kent Cricket to simulate match scenarios in the nets, with bowlers and batters tracked together in a single, unified system. Coaches can recreate specific moments – from defending against the new red ball with attacking fields in place, to chasing down 18 off the final over of a T20 – allowing players to problem solve and train under pressure rather than using subjective judgement.
By placing a small tracking tag inside a Dukes or Kookaburra ball and surrounding the net with sensors, every delivery is captured in three dimensions – 200 times per second, to a level of precision the game hasn’t had access to before.
The result is immediate, ultra-accurate feedback for players to experiment and adjust in real time, giving coaches the tools to shape sessions with far greater clarity while enabling match scenarios to be played out in the nets with a level of realism and detail not previously possible.
This gives coaches and players access to bowling metrics such as release height, speed, length and pitch maps, alongside batting outputs including contact point, shot power, launch angle, carry distance and wagon wheels – all captured within the same system. Arc is the only company globally able to track both bowling and batting data together, in unison.
The work began with the Club’s Academy group during the winter of 2024/25. Under the guidance of Head of Talent Pathway, Min Patel, early focus centred on increasing bowling speeds while maintaining accuracy over time. By combining speed data with pitch maps and Arc’s video review, players were able to push for gains of 2–3mph without compromising control or form.
One year on, the system is now embedded across Kent Men’s first-team and women’s sides. It supports both technical development and scenario-based training, giving coaches objective data alongside more realistic preparation.
Looking ahead, Kent Cricket is also exploring how the technology can support talent identification. Director of Cricket Simon Cook and his team are assessing how Arc could be used in large-scale trials to track and compare player performance with greater consistency and clarity across the whole county.
Arc continues to develop its platform, with a new smart core in progress that will introduce enhanced accuracy and new metrics, including detailed revolution and directional revolution data. The longer-term ambition is to extend tracking beyond the nets and into match environments by placing sensors around the perimeter of the ground.
For Kent Cricket, the partnership has moved beyond data collection. It is now about creating training environments where players can refine their skills, experiment in real time and see the outcomes immediately – while giving coaches the tools to bring their feedback to life with greater clarity and consistency.
Arc is proud to continue working with Kent as the system develops further and both parties look forward to what is in store.
