Beach clean deemed a success

Tuesday 27th October 2009

After adopting a section of beach in Herne Bay, just east of The Lees, Kent County Cricket Club held their autumn beach clean yesterday.

The business development team were joined by colleagues, members and supporters of the club. Former favourite Julian Thompson, now a medical advisor, was in attendance along with numerous local residents.

The weather stayed dry and mild for the beach clean, which lasted a couple of hours. The morning was then rounded off with a local ecology lesson from Canterbury City Council“s Coastal Development Officer.

Commenting on the clean, Business Development Manager, Shaz Sarrafan, said: “I was pleased with the turnout, especially considering the time of year and the number of people at the club who are taking their well earned time off. It was great to see passers by stop and take part. Both the children and adults seemed to thoroughly enjoy the ecology lesson. Thank you to all those that came along and supported our clean, it“s a worthwhile cause and I hope to see just as many people at the next one in February.”
