Bexley Cricket Club reach Lord’s Final

Bexley Cricket Club, the current Kent League Champions, have reached the final of the ECB National Club Championships.

They will play Nantwich Cricket Club, from the Cheshire League, at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s, on Saturday 17 September.

In the semi-final match at their Manor Way Ground, Bexley beat Potterne Cricket Club from Wiltshire by 65 runs, in front of a crowd of 400 spectators, 150 of them supporting the visitors, who had travelled by coach and car to watch the game.

Kent wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson, playing for his club side, scored 54 off 42 deliveries, Matt Stiddard 68, and Shaun Evans 42, as Bexley made 242 for 8, from their 40 overs.

Potterne were then bowled out for 177 in 38.5 overs, former Kent all-rounder, Adam Ball taking 2 for 30, Freddie Foster 2 for 29, and all-rounder Evans, an excellent 4 for 21, as Bexley ran out convincing winners.

They will now deservedly represent Kent, in the prestigous final, hoping to bring the trophy back to the county.

Opponents, Nantwich, won their semi-final, beating Wallasey Cricket Club, by three wickets.

Bexley are also through to the Regional Finals of the ECB’s Vitality Blast Club T20 competition, which takes place this Sunday coming, 28 August, at Basingstoke Cricket Club.

Bexley will play Hornchurch Cricket Club, from Essex, in their semi-final, and hope to progress to the Final later in the day, and play the winners of the other semi-final between Bradnich Cricket Club from Devon and Banbury CC.

There is also a Northern Regional Finals Day at the same time.
