Beyers Swanepoel’s exclusive first intervew

South African fast-bowling all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel has arrived in Canterbury as our second Overseas Star of the season, on a contract that will run until the end of 2024!

We caught up with Beyers on his first day in this exclusive first interview with the Club:

He was named in the CSA T20 Challenge’s Team of the Tournament, after sharing the top-wicket taker accolade in South Africa’s province-based T20 tournament.

Swanepoel took 21 wickets at an average of 16.80 for the Dafabet Warriors, representing Eastern Province, taking a wicket on average every 13.14 deliveries, and at an economy of 7.67.

The 26-year-old, who celebrated his birthday this week, has joined up with Kent until the end of the season.

He joins the county in an all-format deal including the Vitality Blast, England’s premier T20 competition. He could make his Kent debut in the Spitfires’ Vitality County Championship match with Worcestershire at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence from Friday 10 May.

In the Vitality Blast, Swanepoel will be available for the whole tournament including any potential knockout matches. Other overseas stars, Xavier Bartlett, Charlie Stobo & Wes Agar will all also be available for Kent in the Vitality Blast. Tournament rules allow four overseas players in a side’s squad, with two permitted in a Playing XI.

Make sure you’re here for the all-action Vitality Blast in June and July
