Billings catch and run-out helps Islamabad United to first PSL win

Sam Billings helped Islamabad United to a dramatic first win in the inaugural Pakistan Super League.

United defeated Karachi Kings by two runs as fine fielding by both sides took the match to the last ball.

Karachi won the toss and inserted Islamabad who scored 122 for eight.

Billings only faced two balls before he was run out by skipper Misbah-ul-Haq who attempted an optimistic single.

In reply, tight bowling and excellent fielding kept the Kings behind the required run rate throughout.

The 24-year-old Kent ‘keeper took a smart catch off West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell to remove Imad Wasim.

He was involved in two run ours to remove opener Lendl Simmons and a precise underarm throw dismissed Usama Mir in the final over.

Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara struck a six off the penultimate ball of the match bowled by Australia’s Shane Watson to give the Kings hope before a Yorker sealed victory.
