It’s important for us to bring cricket to The County Ground, Beckenham, as we know we are fortunate to enjoy support from across the county.
It is great to have a Sunday afternoon Vitality Blast game, as it opens the competition up to a wider audience, particularly families and younger supporters.
Following the huge success of the ICC Cricket World Cup, there is an unbelievable buzz around cricket at the moment. It’s important that we do all we can at a county level to inspire generations and ensure our fantastic game continues to thrive.
We have seen tremendous support at our opening games, with a full house at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury for the Essex Eagles fixtures. Hopefully this continues throughout the remainder of the season.
It’s particularly exciting to see that match winning performances are being spread across the whole squad. We have an outstanding bunch in the dressing room.
Credit must go to the backroom staff led by Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, and Head Coach Matt Walker, who along with the squad, have created this environment in which all players are thriving.
With new players joining the squad, young players taking their opportunities spectacularly and established T20 players delivering in key moments, it really is an exciting time for Kent Cricket.
We would like to extend a special welcome on Sunday to all of the Kent County Age Group squads, who will be in attendance at Beckenham.
In recognition of all their hard work, commitment, dedication and success, they will be taking a lap of honour ahead of the start of the game.
Please be sure to give them a warm reception, as they could well be our stars of the future.
Let’s hope we have an exciting match in store at The County Ground, Beckenham.
