Claire Eveson was awarded Kent Women’s Cap number 59 following work by the Kent Cricket Heritage Trust, alongside the Club, to further identify past Kent Women cricketers deserving of a County Cap.

This vital work has further highlighted the difficulty in obtaining complete records from women’s cricket before the 1990s, and the Club is pleased that Claire has now been formally recognised for their contributions to Kent Women.

Claire received her cap following a special breakfast event held before gates opened on Sunday 6 September, where a number of former Kent Women players spoke to the current Kent Women squad, strengthening the relationship between past and present players.

Claire Eveson – Women’s Cap no. 59

Claire was presented with her County Cap by Megan Belt

Claire opening bowler began her career with Kent Nomads Cricket Club and Kent Juniors in the early 1980s, before being selected as an England Junior.

She played in the Kent Women’s first-team from 1982 to 1987, making her debut against West Midlands at the Woolwich Royal Artillery Ground.

She played England Representative matches and in 1982 she was in the Young England team that played the Netherlands here in Canterbury.

She was an important member of the Kent Women’s Team that won the Women’s Area Tournament in 1986, scoring 21 runs in the final against The West and she appeared in the top 20 leading batting averages for that tournament.

From 1998 until 2002, she was a MCC playing member and later became a full MCC member.
