Calibre Cleaning – There when you need us most

“Effective cleaning has never been so important. COVID-19 has changed priorities and how we think about cleaning and cleaners. The Calibre team are not formally recognised as ‘key-workers’, but are firmly in the front line in the fight against this highly infectious disease. Cleaning is something that can’t be done from home and during the shut-down, we can help with maintenance deep cleans, touch point sanitising and can even supply toilet rolls and hand sanitiser!

“Over the past few weeks, our focus has changed – with washrooms, kitchens and heavy touch points such as door handles, push plates, lift controls, hand rails, becoming a priority. Unfortunately, there is not yet any scientific evidence for any product that is proven to kill the current strain of COVID-19, but we are working with clients, using virucidal and chlorine based cleaning products in addition to standard anti-bacs, to ensure surfaces are sanitised.

“While many customers are in lockdown, they still appreciate a weekly visit to maintain priority areas. Others have increased the frequency of cleaning services. For Ashford Borough Council, we are visiting their Sheltered Housing sites daily, to sanitise surfaces and help protect residents and we are similarly working with Canterbury Oast Trust to support vulnerable adults in their homes. The regular attendance of our teams is a reassuring presence to the elderly and vulnerable – it brings a little bit of normality back to their lives – and helps them feel safe in their own homes.

“Of course, our cleaners themselves have fears, and they have been provided with clear guidelines around social distancing, using disposable protective equipment, and how they interact with clients. Some jobs will take longer than usual – and there any many more ‘lone’ working as we can only allow one person per company vehicle. However, our cleaning teams are amazing, and despite their personal worries, continue to attend and clean to protect others.

“Calibre is determined to provide a cleaning service for key industries and those who need us during these extraordinary times. The suspension of sporting events and its effect on Kent County Cricket Club is disappointing for all involved, and we look forward to a resumption of play.

“In the meantime, the governments advice continues to be to wash your hands with soap and water as often as you can. Keep yourselves healthy, with a good diet and exercise to keep your immune system in peak condition. It is the best defence we all have.”
