Girl’s Talent Pathway Assessments Underway

Thursday 23rd September 2021

The Kent Cricket Girl’s Talent Pathway assessment process is now well underway to select squads for the 2021-22 county age group season.

.

This year there are six girl’s squads that the players can be selected for,

2 x U11 Girls (North/South)

2 x U13 Girls (Performance/Red Caps)

1 x U15 Girls

1 x U18 Girls

.

The Girl’s U13-U18 trials began this year in an encouraging fashion, as multiple girls turned up for the ‘New Nominations’ day, which is based on Club and School nominations and enables the coaches to see these players separate from existing county players. The U11 Girls process differs slightly, as no nomination is needed and we had 125 girls sign up to the open assessment sessions.

Subsequently, players are then selected to attend the next stage of ‘Combined’ Assessments which sees all successful newly nominated players mixed up with existing county players and then assessed in their age groups, firstly in 2 outdoor sessions (U13-U18) and finishing with 2 indoor sessions (all age groups).

All County Coaches will follow an agreed Assessment Policy for the Kent Cricket 2021 Assessments, to allow as transparent and fair a selection as possible. Decisions on squads will be announced on Monday 16th October, a week after the Assessments conclude.

For those players unsuccessful in the ‘Combined’ Assessments, it will be useful to have knowledge of the new Girl’s Area Programme Training Hubs being launched this year, that will sit in between Club and County Cricket. Click here to read more.
