Indoor Eights County Winners Confirmed

Friday 11th March 2022

This week saw the Kent Cricket Indoor Eights School’s Finals conclude, as Ashford School ended up winners of both age group competitions.

Hosted at the superb facilities of Sevenoaks School, eight school teams participated across the Girls’ U13 and U15 age groups for the chance to progress through to the ECB Regional Finals.

Previously named ‘The Lady Taverners’, the newly branded ‘Indoor Eights’ competition has offered 8-a-side incrediball indoor cricket to secondary school girls this year. Over 1,800 teams take part in this competition on average nationally and it is well supported in Kent, with, on average, 30 secondary schools entering a team into the county rounds.

In Kent, we started with a choice of four regional events at two age groups, in Thanet (Ursuline College), Ashford (The North School), Sevenoaks (Sevenoaks School) and Dartford (North Kent College). Kent schools have seen success in this competition before, with Kent College taking the national title in 2018.

We wish Ashford School all the best as they compete in the ECB Regional and hopefully National Finals representing our County.

Kent Cricket would also like to extend their thanks to all schools for their positive participation, those who helped with the officiating of the games and our venues for hosting us so well.
