Kent Girls’ Open Trials 2023-24 announced

Thursday 20th July 2023

Details for the Kent Girls’ Talent Pathway Open Trials for the 2023-24 season are now confirmed. Clubs, Schools and Parents are invited to nominate for our U11 trials. Clubs and Schools only are invited to nominate U12-U15 Girls and U16-U18 Girls to attend the Kent Girls’ Trials in September.

Kent U11 Girls’ Open Trials

These are cricket trials open to all girls of the correct age (aged 9 or 10 on 1st Sept 2023). Cricket experience is not necessary and no equipment is needed. They will primarily be soft ball trials but if they do have hard ball equipment please bring it along as when numbers allow we may bat some people in the nets against hard ball. If players don’t have hard ball experience they can stick with soft ball.

Our coaches are looking for good movement, hand-eye co-ordination, a love of the game and a positive attitude towards coaches and peers. Whether or not they have played hard ball cricket before will not impact on any selection results. The sessions will be a combination of drills and match play, run by our Girls’ Talent Pathway coaches.

You will be asked to attend one of the following options:

  • U11 Open Trials at Tonbridge CC – Sat 9th Sept, 09.30am – 12.00pm
  • U11 Open Trials at Chestfield CC – Sun 10th Sept, 10.00am – 12.30pm
  • U11 Open Trials at Bexley CC – Sun 10th Sept, 2.00pm – 4.30pm

Kent U12-U15 Girls’ Open Trials

These are hardball cricket trials open to all girls of the correct age (aged 11 – 14 on 1st Sept 2023). Players attending should be performing well in hard ball club/school cricket and have a passion for playing the game. Having their own hard ball kit is not essential as we will have the necessary equipment to borrow. Everyone will take part in a mixture of match play scenarios and drills working on all aspects of the game. U12-U15’s must be nominated by a coach or PE teacher.

The U12-U13 Trials and U15 Open Trials will be as follows:

  • U12 & U13s Open Trials at Tonbridge CC – Sun 3rd Sept, 09.00am – 11.00am
  • U15s Open Trials at Tonbridge CC – Sun 3rd Sept, 11.00am – 1.00pm

Stage 2 Trials

After the initial open trials for both age groups as outlined above, triallists will be informed whether they have been selected to join two further sessions, indoors on Saturday 17th and 24th September (venues tbc). It may be that a player doesn’t get through to stage 2 but is invited to join the Area Programme sessions over the winter.

Kent U16-U18 Girls’ Trials

Girls aged 15-17 on 1st Sept 2023 will be invited to join the Stage 2 Trials on 17th and 24th September, attending both dates. Timings and Venues will be confirmed nearer the time. U16-U18’s must be nominated by a coach or PE teacher.
