Kent Primary School wins national award
Friday 26th November 2021
On Thursday 25 November, the annual Chance to Shine Awards returned to The Home of Cricket for the first time since 2019.
Present from Kent Cricket were James Reid (Head of Community Cricket) and Jamie Harris (Community Cricket Coach).
However they were not the only guests in the room who had made the journey from Kent.
For the first time, we were proud to be attending the awards with a candidate having been short-listed for the prestigious ‘Primary School of the Year’ category. And that school, was Bysing Wood, from Faversham.
Bysing Wood first came into contact with Kent Cricket during the summer of 2020, when their PE Co-ordinator and Forest School Teacher, Jon Rees registered to the Chance to Shine portal, in pursuit of resources and opportunities for their pupils. After an initial conversation with Jamie Harris, it became clear that the school were supportive of the ethos and expectations of Chance to Shine, and were subsequently booked in to receive a ‘Whole School Programme’.
The enthusiasm and commitment of the staff and pupils throughout all aspects of the programme was fantastic and we are extremely pleased to share that this was recognised, with Bysing Wood being awarded Primary School of the Year for 2021:

The school previously lacked experience with cricket but they are now committed to ensuring that all their pupils can experience the benefits of playing the game! #CTSAwards21 pic.twitter.com/8AG78wNMDQ
