Secondary Girls’ Indoor Cricket Season: Round Up

The Kent Cricket Secondary Girls’ Indoor Cricket Season has recently come to an end, after an exciting conclusion to the Indoor Eights and Chance to Compete Indoor at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

This year, Chance to Compete Indoor was introduced (previously only an outdoor competition). This competition has been hugely important in developing girls’ school cricket, as it gives students new to cricket, the opportunity to experience the sport for the first time in a fun, development environment with similar schools.

The 2023 competitions have been very successful, with over 50 schools entering across The Indoor Eights’ and Chance to Compete Indoor.

The structure of these competitions meant there were 2 regional group stages for both U13 & U15’s, hosted in some fantastic venues across Kent. These include Thanet (Ursuline College), Sevenoaks (Sevenoaks School) and then the top 2 schools from each group stage qualified for The County Final, which this year was hosted at The Spitfire Ground in Canterbury. Thank you to all our venues for kindly hosting us this year.

The County Finals day for both competitions were well supported, with a fantastic atmosphere and superb cricket on display. Huge credit goes to all the players and teachers for their commitment and effort across the whole competition. A special mention also to the umpires who managed the Finals throughout the day.

The U13’s Chance to Compete Final Standings:

  1. Weald of Kent Grammar School A
  2. Weald of Kent Grammar School B
  3. Chislehurst and Sidcup
  4. Ursuline College

The U15’s Chance to Compete Final Standings:
