Compton betters first-class high score to sign-off 2022

Kent opener Ben Compton has now scored 217 & 154 for his Mountaineers side to end what has been a meteoric 2022 for the Spitfires star.
Playing in Zimbabwe’s first-class domestic competition, the Logan Cup, the left-hander recorded two new best scores eclipsing his previous best of 140 against Northamptonshire in this season’s LV= Insurance County Championship.

His 154 came in 233 deliveries opening the batting against an Eagles bowling attack including three international players for Zimbabwe, in a knock that included 21 fours and lasted 386 minutes.
Compton’s 217 against Southern Rocks arrived in 256 deliveries, relatively quickly by his standards at a strike rate of 84.77, with 29 fours – it also took him past a career milestone of 2,000 first-class runs.
This is Kent’s 2022 Men’s Player of the Year’s second stint with the Mountaineers following a stay before he made his Kent debut in the Winter of 2021/22, & has now surpassed 1,250 runs for the side based in Harare.
He averages over 61.00 across first-class & List A competition for the Mountaineers across two stints with the club, scoring six centuries.
