The left-hander joined Kent ahead of the 2022 season & made headlines by scoring three centuries in his first three first-class innings for the county, surpassing a 17-year record held by former Kent batter Martin van Jaarsveld.

He was the second man overall and first in Division One to pass 1,000 LV= Insurance County Championship runs, reaching the milestone in June, & now averages over 52.00 with the bat for Kent across first-class & List A cricket.

Compton won big at the 2022 Spitfire Kent Cricket Awards, picking up Men’s Batter & Players’ Player of the Year awards, as well as being voted Men’s Player of the Year by Kent Cricket’s Members & supporters.

By the end of the year, he was the most selected player in BBC Sport’s County Championship Team of the Year, & since then has surpassed his previous first-class best score by scoring his maiden double hundred, 217 for Mountaineers in Zimbabwe’s Logan Cup.

On extending his Kent contract, Compton, said: “Everyone at Kent has made me feel a part of the family from the day I arrived and I’m so happy to extend my time as a Kent cricketer.

“2022 has been a bit of a whirlwind year for me, including winning a trophy, and being named Player of the Year by our Members and supporters.

“Who knows what 2023 will bring, but with only 15 weeks to go until we’re back at The Spitfire Ground, I’m already looking forward to next season.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “Nobody could have predicted how well Compo would begin his career in a Kent shirt but right from the start Ben showed us his extraordinary determination and an ability to concentrate for long periods of time in the middle.

“Opening the batting in England is a specialist job and he has showcased a lot of skill and discipline in successfully taking on the role.

“He has quickly become a vital cog in our first-class and one-day sides, and I know he will work hard to make sure his second season is as successful as his first. We look forward to Compo enjoying a long and successful career at Kent.”
