Cox called-up to England IT20 squad to tour Pakistan

Kent’s Jordan Cox has been called-up to represent his country for the first time in his career, after being named in England Men’s 19-strong squad to travel to Pakistan later this month.

The 21-year-old has played 43 T20 matches to-date for his county, scoring 865 runs at an average of 30.89 with five scores or 50 or more. His current T20 top score of 94 came in a win at Somerset in July this year from 47 deliveries.

Margate-born Cox made headlines for his Player of the Match performance in Kent Spitfires’ victorious Vitality Blast Final against Somerset in September last year, including an unbeaten 58 from 28 deliveries & what is now an iconic piece of fielding to help dismiss Lewis Gregory from behind the boundary rope.

Five uncapped players have been announced for the first tour to Pakistan since 2005, & Cox is joined by Middlesex seamer Tom Helm, Surrey right-handed bat Will Jacks, Warwickshire quick Olly Stone & Lancashire seamer Luke Wood.

If selected to play on the tour, the right-hander will be the sixth Kent Men’s player to play T20 cricket for England after Amjad Khan, Rob Key, Joe Denly, James Tredwell & Sam Billings.
