Darren Stevens to host masterclasses this winter

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens will be offering cricket masterclasses this winter in The Ames Levett Sports Centre at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence in Canterbury.

Centred around providing a new and fresh approach to coaching sessions at the club, ‘Stevo’ will be providing one-to-one support alongside other professional coaches at the home of Kent Cricket, where the first team train.

‘Stevo Cricket Masterclasses’ will not be your average coaching sessions – there will be specialist drills designed for batting, bowling and fielding, with use of both pace and spin bowling machines.

Smaller class sizes than have been offered before will mean that participants will receive more support from ECB qualified coaches, first-team star Calum Haggett and Stevens himself throughout their time in the masterclasses.

The coaching sessions, taking place every Friday from 15th November to 13th December 2019, will be as follows:

  • Ages 7-9: £60 inc. VAT for five sessions, 17:30 – 18:30
  • Ages 10-13: £75 inc. VAT for five sessions, 18:30 – 20:00
  • Ages 14-16: £75 inc. VAT for five sessions, 20:00 – 21:30

On hosting his own masterclasses, Stevens said: “I’m really passionate about leading sessions that are designed to keep people engaged with our sport whilst learning the skills they need to excel.

“This year has been a watershed moment for cricket in this country after the World Cup and The Ashes, and we now have an opportunity to keep kids engaged with cricket, as we go into 2020.

“Cricket nowadays is devised to entertain and excite, young players will now need the technical skill and the confidence to do the outrageous – that’s exactly the style of sessions I’ll be looking to run.”
