Darren Stevens wicket helps Victorians reach BPL playoffs

Darren Stevens bowled an excellent spell to help Comilla Victorians to the top of the Bangladesh Premier League table.

The 39-year-old all-rounder took 1/9 in four overs as they restricted Barisal Bulls to 105 for six at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Victorians’ Pakistan spinner Shoaib Malik removed dangerman Chris Gayle for just eight before Stevens put the brakes on in the middle overs.

He removed Evin Lewis for 15 with a fuller ball, caught well at deep midwicket by Malik.

In reply, Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad struck 76 off 63 balls to lead the Victorians to victory with 15 balls to spare.

The Victorians have qualified for this weekend's play-offs with two matches to spare: Rangpur Riders tomorrow (Tuesday 8 December) and Sylhet Super Stars (Thursday 10 December).
