Davidson-Richards scores century on Test debut

Kent Women all-rounder Alice Davidson-Richards has made history by scoring 107 on her Women’s Test debut against South Africa at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

Reaching three figures in 173 deliveries, the right-hander became the fastest ever Test century for England scored by a Kent Women player, and is the first female player to take a wicket and score over one hundred runs on Test debut – the only man to achieve the feat is W.G. Grace.

In a new record fifth wicket partnership in Women’s Tests for England of 207 with Nat Sciver, ‘ADR’ also became the second player to score a century batting ‘at seven’ or lower in Women’s Tests.

A Kent Cricket Academy product, the Tunbridge Wells native eventually departed for her score of 107, caught by Lizelle Lee from the bowling of Tumi Sekhukhune, after facing 194 balls, and hitting seventeen fours.

The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence will once again host a full England Women’s One-Day International (WODI) match in 2022, with a Royal London WODI against India under the lights in Canterbury on Wednesday, 21 September.
