Eight-wicket Trophy win for Second XI
A brilliant opening partnership of 172 in 32.5 overs by Sean Dickson and wicketkeeper Jordan Cox propelled Kent Second XI to an eight wicket victory over Gloucestershire in a 50 over Trophy match at Rockhampton on Bank Holiday Monday.
After bowling out Gloucestershire for 195 in 45 overs Kent were in complete control chasing 196 to win with Dickson unbeaten on 89, with eight boundaries as they reached their target off just 37.4 overs.
Cox, who recently played in the senior side against Pakistan, hit an impressive 86 off 104 balls with two sixes and 11 fours before being bowled.
Gloucestershire had struggled for runs after being put in to bat and slumped to 44 for 4 before eventually reaching their total.
There was some excellent bowling for Kent from Australian all- rounder Jared Lysaught who took 3 for 27 in eight overs and Tristan Blackledge 3 for 35 from eight, whilst former Kent Academy scholar Marcus O Riordan took 2 for 23.
Having returned from the West Country, the Second X1 are in action again on Tuesday with a 50 over Trophy match against Surrey at Polo Farm, Canterbury.
