Ekansh Singh & George Garrett star in Second XI T20 win at Essex

Some excellent pace bowling from George Garrett, and Arafat Bhuiyan, helped Kent Second XI to a 14-run victory over Essex Seconds, in their final Second XI T20 Group match of the season, at the Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford.

Chasing 150 for victory, Essex Second XI finished their 20-over innings on 135 for 9, after a brilliant spell from Garrett, 4 for 19, which included two wickets in the home sides last over, and Bhuiyan took 2 for 28. Ali Zeb top scored for Essex, with 28 runs.

Kent posted 149 for 7, from their 20 overs, young batters, Ekansh Singh, and Ollie Morgan, reviving the Kent innings, with a fifth wicket partnership of 74, in 10.1 overs, after the loss of early wickets, with first team players, Jack Leaning, and Harry Finch, dismissed cheaply.

Academy student Singh, had three boundaries and a six, in his innings of 44, whilst Morgan, who is part of the Kent Talent Pathway system, scored 45, with two sixes, and two boundaries. Essex Academy scholar, Sam Bear 3 for 21.

Kent Second XI now turn their attentions to two 50-Over friendly fixtures, both at The County Ground, Beckenham. The first is against Zimbabwe A, on Tuesday, July 16, and Essex Seconds two days later, on Thursday July 18. Entrance to both matches is free.
