This is the first newsletter of 2011 so everyone at the Club would just like to wish all our members and supporters a Happy New Year. Let“s hope it is an exciting and successful one for Kent Cricket!

Tredwell named in England World Cup squad
We start with some excellent news. Off-spinner James Tredwell has been selected in England“s 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC World Cup in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, which gets underway next month. Read more by clicking here:

Kent Cricket joins forces with KRNM for the Legends“ Walkway
The Club has teamed up with Kent Regional News & Media to help find the 12 players that will be honoured in a new Legends“ Walkway at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. You can read more, and get involved, by clicking here:

2011 hours of play released
The standard scheduled hours of play for domestic cricket in 2011 have been released. Further details can be found here:

Come and see Tendulkar, Yuvraj and co under lights!
A reminder that the Club is staging a one-day match between Kent and the Indian tourists on the 26th of August. It could be the last time that batting genius Sachin Tendulkar tours England. Don“t forget that the All Rounder membership includes all Kent fixtures, including the two England U19 matches – a great bargain for just £220. Kent sign Blackheath youngster onto Academy
Seam bowler Ivan Thomas has joined the Kent Academy. The 19 year-old plays in the Kent League for Blackheath and will be a part of the 2011 senior programme. You can find out more about Ivan by clicking on the following link:

Over 100 people sign up for the Kent Cricket Lottery!
More than 100 people have already signed up for the Kent Cricket Lottery. The Club has launched its own lottery in a drive to generate more funds for youth and junior cricket. New website coming next month
The Club would like to remind everyone that the new website will be up-and-running next month. It will offer greater interactivity, as well as regular audio and video highlights.

Get fit with Kent Cricket!
The St Lawrence Sports & Physiotherapy Clinic runs lunchtime Pilates classes on a Monday and Thursday and two evening classes on a Tuesday. The Monday and Thursday classes are run by Second XI and Academy physio Max Ganderton. The classes are run in six-week blocks and bookings are now being taken for the next run, starting at the end of next month. Membership cards on the way next month
A reminder that membership cards will be posted during the middle part of next month with all the information for the 2011 AGM. If you want to come along on the night of the AGM, 21 March, then you must be a paid up member.
