Farbrace named Sri Lanka Cricket Head Coach

Kent County Cricket Clubcongratulate former Club coach, Paul Farbrace who has been appointed Head Coach of the Sri Lankan national team.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has released Farbrace from his current position as second-team coach, enabling him to take up the two year contract with Sri Lanka Cricket.

Farbrace served as an assistant coach to Trevor Bayliss at Sri Lanka from 2007 to 2009, before joining Kent. He then moved to Yorkshire County Cricket Club ahead of the 2012 season, where he was in charge of the second team over two years.

Farbrace is set to return to his roots in Canterbury next May, with Kent’s 2014 schedule including a fixture against Sri Lanka at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on 16th May.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club Chairman, Colin Graves commented on the news; “Paul’s departure from the Club is a loss and I would like to personally thank him for his efforts over the past two years in his role as second team coach. He s to Sri Lanka with our blessing and we wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”

Farbrace will replace Graham Ford, another former Kent Cricket coach, who stands down as Head Coach of Sri Lanka Cricket at the end of the year.
