There’s no getting away from the fact that this is a huge match for us in Canterbury as we welcome the players, staff and supporters of Leicestershire Foxes Women to the St Lawrence Ground.

We may have already qualified for the Semi Finals next weekend, but we must ensure that we head into the knockouts with good momentum, and the Foxes will give us a tough test on home soil.

Before I speak about the match itself, I’m really pleased to say that we will be having a team breakfast together with some of our former Kent Women players on the morning of the match. It’s important that we honour those that paved the way for us, and that’s something that the Kent Cricket Family does very well.

It’ll be a fantastic learning experience for this current crop of players, to get to know those that wore the White Horse before them.

On the field, I’ve been extremely impressed by our mentality so far this season. We’ve experienced a lot of highs together, but what’s stuck with me most is how we have rallied when times are tough.

We reached the knockout stages of the Vitality Blast from the brink of elimination, and that’s now translated into our form in the One Day Cup.

Two run chases of around 300 in recent memory show that when we’re on our game, there’s nothing we can’t achieve in this tournament.

I can give the players advice, coaching and I can act as a sounding board, but it’s up to them to bring the same energy that they’ve shown so far this year.

I hope that the gravity of this match, and playing on a Sunday, has helped with your decision to head to the St Lawrence Ground to get behind us in person.

Any backing you can give us can be the extra edge to fire us into the Semi Finals in the best possible shape that we can be.

Up the Horses,

Hockers
