Glos v Kent: Riley returns to LV=CC squad

Sunday 17th May 2015

Kent travel to Bristol this weekend to face Gloucestershire in the LV= County Championship, with a four-day fixture starting on Monday.

After defeats at Essex and Lancashire, improved home displays against Leicestershire and Glamorgan ended in draws with Kent within one wicket of a win on Wednesday against the Welsh side.

Kent bounced back on Friday night with a superb seven-run win against Sussex Sharks in the NatWest T20 Blast and will be in confident mood as they return to the longest form of the game.

Head coach Jimmy Adams said: “The performances have improved game on game and we hope to follow Friday’s win with a solid display in red-ball cricket.”

James Tredwell is out with a side strain so Adam Riley returns to the squad as does Mitch Claydon after an impressive spell in Friday's 20-over win.

Kent squad: 17 Sam Northeast (c), 6 Joe Denly, 23 Daniel Bell-Drummond, 40 Brendan Nash, 30 Fabian Cowdrey, 3 Darren Stevens, 20 Sam Billings (w), 25 Calum Haggett, 26 Matt Coles, 5 Ivan Thomas, 33 Adam Riley, 8 Mitch Claydon, 22 Charlie Hartley.

Monday’s match is a likely reunion with former Kent ‘keeper Geraint Jones, who left the club last summer after 14 years of excellent service, who joined Gloucestershire as four-day captain.

Adams said: “Geraint was a fantastic servant of Kent Cricket and we were delighted to see him get the opportunity at Gloucestershire. He’s a fierce competitor so we expect a tough game at Bristol but the mood in our squad is positive.
