Gloucestershire have beaten Kent by an innings and 142 runs, claiming their first LV= County Championship win at Cheltenham in 10 years and 20 attempts.

Gloucestershire were all out for 515 early on Day Three, with Chris Taylor equalling his personal best score of 196. Kent’s loan signing, David Balcombe also finished with a career best, taking 5 for 103.

Joe Denly (26) began the Kent innings brightly with six fours, but following his departure the wickets fell quickly. Darren Stevens (35) batted well, hitting seven fours, and Simon Cook’s 46 not out included two sixes and six fours. But this wasn’t enough, and Kent were bowled out for 168 by mid-afternoon, with David Payne taking 4 for 60, and Jon Lewis 3 for 31 in five overs.
