Good win for Second XI over the South Asian Cricket Academy

Kent Second XI gained a convincing 91 run victory, over the South Asian Cricket Academy, in their three-day friendly fixture, at The County Ground, Beckenham.

After three declarations, the Academy side, were set 357 to win, but despite a century, from their captain, Jakob Bhula, 109, with two sixes, and 11 boundaries, they were bowled out for 265, Jaydn Denly 3 for 49, Jas Singh 2 for 59, Adam Sylvester 2 for 38, Hamidullah Qadri 2 for 60.

There was some excellent batting from Kent Seconds, in their first innings, 351 for 4 declared, overseas recruit, Charlie Stobo, just missing out on a century scoring 96 off 85 deliveries, with four sixes, and 10 boundaries, 83, from Ben Compton, which included a six, and 14 fours, and 80 from trialist, Sam Topping, who previously played for Surrey Seconds, Ismail Mohammed 2 for 58.

The Academy side then declared their first innings on 275 for 6, 76 runs behind, Bhula 51, Jas Singh 3 for 70.

In their second innings Kent scored 280 for 9 declared, Harry Finch 70, with 12 boundaries, Zain Latif 3 for 69, Chinmay Mullapudi 3 for 58.

The visitors finally falling well short of their victory target, after losing their last four wickets for 15 runs.

Kent Second Elevens next match is a T20 Blast fixture, away to Surrey Seconds, at New Malden, on Wednesday 3 July, 2pm start.
