Kent Age Group Coaches at The Hundred

Two of Kent Cricket’s County Age Group coaches, Lucy Arman and Jenni Jackson, were this year selected for involvement within The Hundred’s women’s competition.

The ECB this year launched a Female Coaching Programme for The Hundred, to give potential future women’s professional coaches, an experience in a franchise tournament. The Hundred once again featured world-class players and massive names from around the world with eight city-based women’s and men’s teams competing over five weeks of the summer.

Both Arman and Jackson have been involved in coaching and playing at various levels of the female cricket pathway in Kent and were selected to be part of the programme after a comprehensive recruitment programme.

The main purpose from the ECB is to give young girls female role models that they can aspire to be, and give the coaches involved opportunities of developing their own knowledge and skills sets for the professional game.

Each individual was placed with a franchise squad (Jackson with the Oval Invincibles and Arman with the Southern Brave), who then worked with the Head Coach to develop an individual action plan to upskill themselves in their chosen areas. For example, match day preparation, during the match experience, performance analysis etc.

On being appointed a coach during The Hundred, Arman said: “I’m extremely grateful to have this opportunity to work with Southern Brave and to also coach alongside Head Coach, Charlotte Edwards.

“I’m excited to learn from the best players and coaches in the game and to continue developing my personal coaching knowledge and skills and build on these within my own coaching sessions.”

Jackson added: “I’m really excited to put my coaching skills under pressure in a professional, high stakes environment.

“I’m also really looking forward to being able to mix with some incredible international and regional players and coaches.

“I’ll be soaking as much information up as I can and hoping to learn from the incredible coaches around me.”
