Kent and England star Lydia Greenway to coach in Margate

Monday 21st June 2010

Scores of children from around Margate will join England Women“s Ashes winner Lydia Greenway (pictured) and take part in a beach cricket tournament, on Wednesday 23 June, as part of “Brit Insurance National Cricket Day”. Kent and England batsman Greenway, famed for her fine fielding, will be on Margate beach from 10am. Pupils will get the opportunity to take part in cricket classes, break-time batting and bowling and extra-curricular cricket competitions.

The flagship event is part of activity taking place nationwide, in hundreds of schools, that aims to raise awareness of and funds for ‘Chance to Shine supported by Brit Insurance“, the Cricket Foundation charity“s campaign to educate two million children through cricket by 2015.

Brit Insurance National Cricket Day also provides a focus for the charity“s 2010 public appeal, “Step up to the Crease!” The Cricket Foundation is asking schools, cricket clubs and the cricket-loving public in the area to raise small amounts for Chance to Shine through fun, cricket-themed fundraising activity.

If you are in the area then please feel free to go along and watch the action!
