Kent County Cricket Club today confirmed that having offered Matt Coles a further contract at the Club, he has decided to further his career elsewhere.

Coles is a Kent Cricket Academy graduate who made his Kent debut in 2009, impressing in the early stages of his career with a series of mature displays. His form for Kent saw him named in the Potential England Performance Programme Squad at the end of the 2011 season, and during 2012 he was called up to play for England Lions. Coles received his county cap in 2012.

Kent Cricket Chairman of Cricket, Graham Johnson commented; “Having seen Matt develop through the Kent system with all the support that this has provided him, it is disappointing that he feels he needs to go elsewhere in search of a way to deliver to his potential.

"We wish him well and are now focused on developing our squad of players who have a desire to play for Kent and have the same vision.”
