Kent County Cricket Club Launch New Logo

Monday 8th November 2010

The Club logo has been redesigned with the objective of honouring the past whilst focusing on the future. On the new badge, the Invicta horse is prominent at the forefront and the new shield is designed in the Club“s traditional colours of maroon and blue. The year of establishment as a Club has been added – 1870 – to further emphasise the fine heritage of the club.

The Club recently undertook a number of surveys and focus groups of supporters. From these surveys there was a perception that many felt Kent County Cricket Club was a place for “Members Only”. The Club believe that this misconception couldn“t be further from the truth and aims with the fresh new design to communicate this.

The Club looks to appeal to a wide community of supporters, conference users and commercial partners. It has become increasingly dependent on non-member income and therefore needs the Kent community to feel that Kent County Cricket Club is open to everyone. It still proudly remains one of the longest standing members“ cricket clubs in the country.
The new logo will be used consistently across all areas; playing and replica Kit, the club website, stationery, and advertising.

Commenting on the look, Jamie Clifford, Chief Executive Officer, said: “The design of the new club logo coincides with the redevelopment of the St Lawrence Ground and heralds the start of a new era for the Club. It rightly returns the Invicta horse to pride of place at the centre of a shield whilst providing a fresh new contemporary look. I hope that it will soon become widely recognised as standing for all that is good about Kent County Cricket Club – traditional, forward looking and welcoming.”

“I am pleased that we have worked with a local company Deeson Group, based in Canterbury, to produce the logo and delighted they have also joined us as a commercial partner. Using the feedback we gather from members and supporters they quickly got to grip with what the club logo should represent.”

Dominic Deeson, Managing Director of the Deeson Group, added: “We are thrilled to be supporting Kent Cricket and look forward to working with them very closely as we move forward. We have been based in Kent for more than 50 years and are keen supporters. We are delighted to now get the opportunity to work with the club at such an exciting time.”

The club extended its thanks the Deeson Group, a company that provide a fully integrated communication service to business, for their input with the redesign. Deeson will work as a close partner of the club in the future and are currently designing the club“s new website and the 2011 membership materials’.
