Confirmed refund policy for individual tickets in 2020 season

The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence should have been hosting the Kent Spitfires’ in their first home match of the 2020 Vitality Blast season this evening. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ECB yesterday confirmed that cricket has been suspended until at least 1st August.

Kent Cricket can therefore now announce that refunds will be available for any individual tickets purchased for Kent’s home matches in this year’s Vitality Blast, County Championship and Royal London Cup, that should have been played prior to 1st August.

Ticket-holders for Kent’s home matches scheduled to be played before the 1st August will be given three options to select from:

• A credit to their account to use for the rearranged fixture in a 2020 season (pending confirmation) or the 2021 season,
• a full refund,
• or the opportunity to waive their right to a refund to help the Club navigate through this financially challenging period.

The Club will be in contact with all ticket-holders by Friday 5th June, to confirm how supporters would like to proceed.

At this stage, all three formats of cricket remain a possibility, albeit in a new look schedule and condensed season. Once we have a clearer understanding of how or when the season will be concluded, the Club will be in touch with Membership and Six Pack holders.

The Club kindly requests that supporters who have purchased tickets for home Kent Cricket games scheduled to take place after the 1st August, remain patient until we have further clarification of what the 2020 season may look like. The Club will contact all ticket holders affected, once further information is available.

Kent Cricket’s CEO, Simon Storey said: “I’d firstly like to thank all of our members and supporters for their patience throughout these uncertain times. I’d like to send you my best wishes, and hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well.

“I know that the ECB announcement which confirmed a further delay to the season will be disappointing for members and supporters all over the county; as we continue to long for the day that we can once again all join together at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, The County Ground, Beckenham or The Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells, to see some fantastic cricket on display.

“The option to waive refunds, and instead donate to the Club, was a solution that I’m proud to say our members and supporters have directly come to us with, over the past couple of months. I’d like to offer my sincere thanks for those generous offers which will help us, as a not for profit, members club, to navigate through this challenging period and ensure that both professional and community cricket in the county of Kent survive to fight another day.

“Although the COVID-19 pandemic presents a financially challenging time for the Club, we recognise that it may also be causing financial challenges for our valued members and supporters. We hope that the reassurance of refunds being made available, helps to ease some financial pressure and show our appreciation to those who had purchased in advance.

“We will always act in the fairest way possible to protect the members, supporters and long-term future of the Club. This is new territory for all of us and these are challenging times. So once again, thank you for your loyal support and patience and I hope that we can join together to watch Kent in action soon.”

International match ticket purchasers

The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, was set to host two Women’s One Day International matches this year. The fixture scheduled on 6th July, 2020 at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in the England Women v India Royal London One Day International series has been confirmed as an international fixture which has been postponed and is intended to be rescheduled to a later date in the 2020 season.

As a ticket holder, you do not need to do anything at this stage. The ECB are currently working with their partners across the game to determine how best to reschedule these fixtures in 2020, when it is safe to do so.

Please await further advice from the ECB as to rescheduling plans and how this impacts you as a ticket holder.

Original ticket purchasers will be notified in the event that a match is rearranged and we will advise ticket purchasers as soon as we have more information from the ECB.
