Kent Cricket stars surprise the Club’s Disability Squad

Kent Cricket stars Joe Denly, Sam Billings, Zak Crawley, Heino Kuhn and Harry Podmore, recently teamed up to voluntarily surprise members of the Kent Disability squads.

The five first-team players called members from across the Disability squads (VI and LD/PD), to see how they were coping with the lockdown, as a result of COVID-19 and what they were all up to on a daily basis.

Joe Denly said “It’s been a difficult time for the whole nation, so I thought it would be nice for us to put a smile on some faces. Having worked closely with the Lords Taverners, I know how tough it can be at times living with disability. A friendly call hopefully brought a bit of positivity to the guys.

“It was nice to catch up and hear how they have been keeping busy as well as some of their stories. They are all so passionate about their cricket, which was great to hear.

“I look forward to meeting them in person once cricket returns.”

Having been surprised with a call from Harry Podmore, Will Fitchett from Kent’s LD/PD squad said “He was very nice, asking me how I was doing and if I was still able to get a bit of cricket practice done. It was amazing to get the call and to just catch up with someone.”
