Kent beat Yorkshire & Somerset in T20s

Alice Davidson-Richards and Tash Farrant starred with bat and ball as Kent completed a NatWest Women’s T20 double against Yorkshire and Somerset at Taunton Deane.

The duo devastated Yorkshire’s line-up with fine new-ball spells in the first match, reducing the White Rose county to 9-6.

Farrant finished with 2/6 including only a single from the bat and skipper Alice Davidson-Richards returned 3/5 and a run-out as Kent cantered to a nine-wicket win.

Grace Gibbs, Chelsey Rowson and Phoebe Franklin took the other wickets aided by a Lottie Bryan run-out as 19 extras inflated the total to 49 with six ducks and only two double-figure scores for Yorkshire.

Bryan (17*) and Lauren Griffiths (18*) saw Kent home with eight overs to spare as the pair batted patiently following the fall of Franklin for 12.

In the second match, Davidson-Richards won the toss and chose to field first, striking in her first over to reduce Somerset to 5-1.

Emily Bayliss (31) and England Academy player Sophie Luff (35) then shared a stand of 62 off 61 balls to put the hosts in a strong position

Jenni Jackson broke the partnership with the first of two wickets and Farrant returned to the attack with two quick wickets before Davidson-Richards struck with the final ball to restrict Somerset to 109-6.

In reply, Kent lost Bryan and Griffiths in the fifth over to slip to 20-2 before a 52-run stand by Franklin and Davidson-Richards at a run a ball.

Again, wickets fell in pairs and Franklin departed LBW to Hodkinson before Gibbs was bowled with the next ball.

Davidson-Richards inspired a fine chase, striking seven boundaries in an innings 43* off 38 balls with Tash Farrant (13) an excellent foil to seal a six-wicket win with ten balls to spare.
