Kent & England icons sign up for ‘The Spitfire Sessions’

Four world-renowned names in the history of women’s cricket, at both county and international level, will take part in the fourth edition of ‘The Spitfire Sessions’.
Current Kent captain and England international, Tammy Beaumont, Kent and England legends Charlotte Edwards and Lydia Greenway and England Women’s most successful spinner of all time, Laura Marsh, will discuss a range of topics all relating to women’s cricket in Kent and on the international stage in ‘The Spitfire Sessions: Kent Women in Focus’.

The fourth edition of Kent Cricket’s interactive online forum, will take place on Monday 11th May at 19:30 via Zoom.
This forum is open to all, and the panel will be answering questions put to them by Kent Cricket supporters and stakeholders. Supporters are asked to submit questions to the club in advance via email at TheSpitfireSessions.Kent@ecb.co.uk.
From the advanced questions received, a star question will be selected by the panel and awarded with a prize, kindly donated by Shepherd Neame.
Tammy Beaumont is the current skipper of the Kent Women side and was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year for 2019.
She has won ten major trophies with ‘The Horses’, as well as the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017.
The right-hander averages over 41.00 in women’s one-day internationals, and scored the first ever Women’s Ashes ODI century against Australia at Leicester in 2019.
Charlotte Edwards was named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2014. She was the first Kent Women star to ever achieve the accolade, and was only the second woman in history to do so.
She averaged over 32.00 across all formats for England on the international stage, captaining her country on 220 occasions between 2005 and 2016, including a World Cup/ World T20 double win in 2009, as well as being a five-time Ashes winner, three of those as captain.
A multiple trophy-winner with Kent, Edwards also captained The Horses during what can be considered Kent Women’s first ‘golden age’ between 2006 and 2016, winning ten trophies with the county.
Since retiring, Edwards is now Director of Women’s Cricket at Hampshire and has been appointed Women’s Head Coach of the Southern Brave team in The Hundred competition.
Lydia Greenway spent her entire sixteen-year playing career with Kent Women, winning ten trophies, before taking on a coaching role at the county for three years after her retirement in 2016.
A member of the World Cup/World T20 double-winning England side of 2009 and five time Ashes winner, Greenway was known as one of the top fielders in international cricket during her time as a middle-order batter.
Since retiring, she has been appointed as Women’s Head Coach of the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred Competition, and has also founded her own all-female cricket academy: Lydia Greenway’s Cricket for Girls.
Laura Marsh, a member of England’s World Cup-winning squad in both 2009 and 2017, has taken over 100 wickets in Women’s ODI cricket from 89 appearances.
The off-spinner has won eight trophies as a Kent Women player, and alongside Tammy Beaumont was a huge part of Kent’s latest Championship winning squad of 2019. She took 217 wickets for England across all formats, and is their third-highest wicket-taker in one-day internationals.
