Kent have Three Players Selected for Bunbury Festival

Monday 30th June 2014

With a tradition that goes back to the Under 15 playing days of current Kent Cricket Squad members Rob Key and James Tredwell, it has been announced today that the County has three of its current Under 15 crop selected for the Bunbury Festival.

Representing the London and East, in this four Region competition, the Festival is an annual event, held this year at Oakham School, and running from the 21st – 25 July. In the 28 year history of this unique gathering 62 players have graduated to represent England.

Each of the Regions: North, Sound & West, Midlands and London & East will play each other in 50 over matches over the course of the week, with the ‘carrot’ for all the players, the opportunity to be selected for the ECB Under 16 Development Programme.

The three Kent Players are, Nathan Baxter – Academy Scholar (right hand batsman), Lewis Bedford – U15 Performance Squad (right hand batsman) and Jan Gray – U15 Performance Squad (right arm leg spin bowler). Commenting on their selection Kent Cricket High Performance Manager Simon Willis noted that, ‘this is a great achievement for our lads. They have all put in a tremendous amount of work already in their short careers to achieve this. Their parents have been right behind them and we all at Kent Cricket wish them every success at the Festival.’
