Held across the Easter Weekend, newly-appointed Kent skipper Daniel Bell-Drummond led his side from the front, scoring a century in just 101 balls – Joe Denly also scored a hundred on the first day as Kent’s batters took advantage of dry conditions on Easter Sunday.

‘Keeper-batter Harry Finch also scored 46 from 65 deliveries, and Joey Evison 37 from 43, as Kent made 377, including the retirements of centurions Bell-Drummond & JL Denly.

Kent then used nine different bowlers – the weather much more changeable across Days Two & Three, as part of final preparations ahead of the start of the Vitality County Championship on Friday 5 April.

New signing George Garrett got his first Kent wicket at The Spitfire Ground, with Joe MacGregor edging behind to Finch on 99. Nathan Gilchrist also got some overs under his belt, as did Joey Evison, who took two wickets, and Matt Parkinson, also collecting his first red-ball wicket for Kent at his new home venue.

Frontline seamers Garrett, Gilchrist & Grant Stewart all bowled eight overs apiece, with bowling duties shared around the squad.

After Loughborough matched Kent’s first innings total, the University side declared their score just before Tea on Day Three to insert Kent back in.

Bell-Drummond & Leaning saw Kent to 4:52pm, when both sides shook hands on the draw.
