Kent players face the dreaded bleep test!

Tuesday 27th October 2009

Kent captain Rob Key and six of his team-mates were put through their paces earlier today by strength & conditioning coach Keith Marshall.

The fitness specialist tested out the condition of Key, Martin van Jaarsveld, Geraint Jones, James Tredwell, Simon Cook, Phil Edwards and Paul Dixey in a collective group before individual assessments and then the dreaded bleep test!
Keith will now write specific programmes for the players to work on before retesting them in January and then again in March.

Kent“s new head coach, Paul Farbrace, said: “Fitness in cricket is much more important now. The players concentrate on fitness for 12 months of the year. Even when the season finished, they were still visiting the gym and looking to stay in good shape. The game has moved on and you can no longer just look to start things up in February or March. The guys need to be fitter, stronger and more powerful and sessions like the one earlier today will all help.”
