The Netherlands have beaten Kent Spitfires by 40 runs (D/L method), in their Clydesdale Bank 40 match in Rotterdam.

Kent won the toss and elected to bat second. The Netherlands lost Michael Swart for a second ball duck early in their innings,andit was an exceptional innings from Peter Borren which helped The Netherlands to their third Clydesdale Bank 40 win of the season. The Netherlands captain, Borren made 71 not out from 33 balls, in a 37-over game, reducedfollowing a rain delayed start. Joe Denly took 3 for 42 and Darren Stevens 2 for 51, to restrict The Netherlands to 206 after 37 overs.

Martin Van Jaarsveld captained the Spitfires, chasing the home side's 206. Joe Denly (46), Sam Northeast (21) and Martin van Jaarsveld (61) gave a solid platform to the innings, hitting thirteen fours and three sixes between them. But the Spitfires were unable to sustain their momentum, with the final seven wickets falling for22 runs; Darren Stevens falling for one and James Tredwell for four. The Netherlands restricted the Spitfires to 165.
