Wednesday 29th July 2009

THE Kent Spitfires will play the Somerset Sabres in the semi-finals of the Twenty20 Cup. Somerset booked their place in the last four of the T20 Cup after defeating Lancashire in a bowl-out.

After the quarter-final at Old Trafford was washed out on three successive days, the Sabres won through 5-1 to book a last-four meeting with the Spitfires.

Alfonso Thomas twice hit the unguarded stumps for the visitors, with Charl Willoughby and former Kent players Peter Trego and Ben Phillips also on target.

Young bowler Steven Cheetham was the only player to hit the stumps for the home side.
