Kent to host Pakistan in 2010

Wednesday 23rd September 2009

The England and Wales Cricket Board today released the major match programme for the 2010 season and there is some good news for Kent County Cricket Club. Reigning world Twenty20 champions, Pakistan, are coming to Canterbury from the 28 to the 30 of June for a three-day game against Kent.

Commenting on Pakistan“s trip to Canterbury in 2010, Kent“s Chief Executive, Paul Millman, said: “This is great news for Kent. Pakistan supporters are passionate about cricket and I“m sure that the match will generate a bumper crowd. We successfully staged the Australia v England Lions game, earlier this year, and are delighted to bring further international cricket to the county. I“m sure that the people of Kent will back us and come out in force to watch some of the finest international cricketers on show at the St Lawrence Ground.”

The domestic fixtures will follow in the second week of November and we will notify you as soon as everything is confirmed. We now know that the international season commences on May 27 with the 1st npower Test Match v Bangladesh at Lord“s. Following the 2nd npower Test at Old Trafford, the Bangladesh team will head off to participate in the Asia Cup.

The England team will then play an ODI in Scotland on June 19 in the lead up to the five-match NatWest Series v Australia. The three-match NatWest Series v Bangladesh then follows.

As previously announced, ECB has agreed with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) to host a programme of cricket between Pakistan and Australia which had been due to be held in Pakistan – two International Twenty20s will be played at Edgbaston on July 5 and 6, followed by Test Matches at Lord“s and Headingley Carnegie starting on July 13 and June 21 respectively.

England then play Pakistan in a four-match npower Test Series with matches staged at Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, the Brit Oval and Lord“s. The teams then play two NatWest International Twenty20 matches at Cardiff followed by five One Day Internationals in The NatWest Series.

The Rose Bowl will be the venue for the ever popular Twenty20 Finals Day on Saturday August 14 while the final round of LV= Championship matches, to be played from September 13-16, and the new ECB 40-over Final at Lord“s on Saturday September 18 will provide an exciting climax to the domestic season.
