Kent trio in England Women’s T20 squad

Kent seamer Tash Farrant has joined Tammy Beaumont and Laura Marsh in England’s squad of 14 for the opening match of the Vitality IT20 Tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand.

The left-armer replaces opener Lauren Winfield with the 22-year-old from Sevenoaks keen to add to her 14 international caps.

Winfield will bolster the group for the second and third IT20 – both to be played on June 24 – as will Hampshire’s Katie George.

Coach Mark Robinson said: “In selecting this squad, we’ve had the opportunity to consider our England Women’s Senior Academy fixtures against South Africa and New Zealand and it’s heartening to see so much competition for places.

“There’s a growing number of players beginning to make cases for selection which is a reflection of the depth that’s starting to emerge and that’s exciting.”
