Kent win by 96 runs at St Lawrence

Kent v Nottinghamshire at The St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury.

Kent’s cricketers continued their pre-season preparations with a convincing 96 run victory over Nottinghamshire at Canterbury. Batting first, Kent scored a mighty 355 for five from their 50 overs with Joe Denly top-scoring with 107. The England Lions opener hit his ton from just 93 balls and shared an opening stand of 210 with skipper Rob Key who made 94. Darren Stevens (63) and Sam Northeast (52 not out) also made half centuries. Luke Fletcher was the most successful Notts bowler returning figures of four for 47.

In reply, Notts were never really in the hunt and were eventually dismissed for 259. All-rounder Paul Franksweighed in with 76 whileMark Wagh scored 49 and former Kent favourite Mark Ealham 48.Young paceman Warren Lee was the pick ofthe Kent attack with figures ofthree for 63 while there were two wicketseach for Robbie Joseph and David Burton.
